2019 Election Updates & Information

PLEASE NOTE:

State law currently allows for individuals to collect your signed ballot envelopes. I would highly recommend you securely mail or drop off your own envelopes and NOT release them to any campaign volunteers.

ADDITIONAL BALLOT DROP-BOX INFORMATION

Since this is not a traditional vote-at-polls election, voters should not expect the following at the City drop-off locations listed above:

  • Replacement or provisional ballots
  • (Replacement for spoiled or lost ballots are issued by the County Registrar’s office only – call 1-800-815-2666 Option 2  or at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk)
  • Voter rosters
  • The Redondo Beach City Clerk’s Office also will not have ballots, nor will the City Clerk’s Office take possession of any ballots/ballot envelopes.

Replacement envelopes, however, will be available for voters who have either lost or misplaced their original VBM envelope at the City drop-off locations.

A voter shall not be hindered and should be able to freely drop-off their own ballot envelopes into the drop-off box.

VOTERS RIGHTS

Voters (or their designee) may drop signed-and-sealed ballot envelopes off at the drop-off locations in Redondo Beach, or at any official drop-off locations, or polling place, at a Los Angeles County city that is also conducting their own election on March 5th.  Locally, the cities of Manhattan Beach and Palos Verdes Estates are conducting elections on the 5th, but it is suggested voters check with those cities to determine what time their ballot drop-off locations will close on Election Day.

A voter shall not be hindered and should be able to freely drop off their own ballot envelopes into the drop-off box.  (https://lavote.net/locator)

OFFICIAL SAMPLE BALLOT BOOKLETS (VOTER GUIDE) & BALLOTS

The Sample Ballot booklet and Official Ballot for each voter will be mailed by the County in one envelope  to each registered voter on Monday, February 4 in compliance with the Elections Code.  Those registered voters that subscribed with the County to receive E-Sample Ballots (lavote.net) have already received their Sample Ballots by email, and will be mailed an Official Ballot.

CITYWIDE POSTCARD MAILING – REMINDER TO VOTE

As an additional service to City voters, on February 21 or 22, a postcard will be mailed to each/every registered voter reminding them to mail in their ballots.  For purposes of this election, EVERY registered voter in the City of Redondo Beach is a vote-my-mail voter. The postcard will also provide the above list of City drop-off locations should the voter desire not to mail in their ballots in the pre-paid postage envelopes on or before Election Day.

ELECTION RESULTS

The County will be conducting the official canvass; a link to the County website will be posted on the City website to view election results as they become available.
